What is EAIDA?
Emory Artificial Intelligence and Data Association (EAIDA) is a student-led, innovation-driven organization focused on promoting the academic study, practical applications, and ethical issues of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics.
AI and machine learning are undeniably some of the hottest topics today, and Emory University offers many resources to help students adapt to and engage with this emerging field. However, some students may find it hard to connect with professors and access these valuable resources, some may not know where to start with AI, and others may not major in math or computer science but still want to ride the AI wave. We believe that AI is for everyone, regardless of major, race, or wealth.
We provide a vibrant learning platform for students from all backgrounds. Whether you're a computer science enthusiast or a student in the humanities looking to understand how AI is shaping the future, EAIDA welcomes everyone to join our discussions and activities. Additionally, we plan to collaborate with Emory’s AI Learning Center, Computer Science Department, Business School, and other university entities to help students better understand the wealth of AI resources Emory has to offer.
Our activities cover academic and professional development, as well as social responsibility and ethics.
About Academic and Professional Development
AI Workshops
Regular workshops led by industry experts and academic mentors that dive deep into the technical frameworks of AI, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
AI Academic Guidance
Based on Emory’s curriculum, we offer discussions and support for AI-related courses from the Computer Science, Math, and Quantitative Theory and Methods (QTM) departments. Additionally, we hope to work with the Computer Science Department to introduce more students to the AI minor and Emory’s diverse AI resources.
Expert Lectures
EAIDA regularly invites scholars and entrepreneurs to share their latest research and insights in AI and data analytics. Through these lectures, students not only gain cutting-edge theoretical knowledge but also understand AI’s real-world applications in fields like healthcare, finance, and education.
AI Research Group
The AI Research Group (AIRP) is a platform specifically for students majoring in AI, machine learning, and computer science to engage in discussions and research. We look forward to discussing real-world problems across many disciplines through project-based learning in small groups.
About Social Responsibility and Ethics
AI Ethics and Social Responsibility Discussions
We believe AI is not just a technical issue but also one deeply connected to ethics and social responsibility. EAIDA is committed to fostering discussions on topics like AI ethics, privacy protection, and algorithmic bias. Through debates, creative competitions, and more, we aim to help everyone understand the societal impacts of AI in a global context and enhance our critical thinking about technology.
Social and Interdisciplinary Exchange
EAIDA encourages interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration. Through social events, interdisciplinary discussions, and more, we provide an open environment for Emory students to explore the diverse applications of AI across various fields.
